The WRC found that a security officer was unfairly dismissed and ordered the security company to pay him €9,500 compensation. The decision was dated 26 January 2018. The company relied on a final written warning when dismissing him after further alleged security procedure breaches. The adjudication officer found that the company had failed to provide an appeal hearing after he appealed the warning in May 2016, then relied on that warning in the later dismissal process. The officer found that the employee had contributed to the circumstances leading to dismissal and his losses. He had not actively sought work to reduce his losses, which the officer also considered when setting compensation.
