The WRC dismissed a French worker’s unfair dismissal complaint after he failed to attend a hearing. The merits were not decided. The worker had alleged that the company’s disciplinary process over performance problems was unfair and that it sought to reduce the number of French agents at its Dublin facility. The company attended the hearing, represented by Arthur Cox Solicitors, but no evidence was given in support of the complaint. In its submission, the company cited an Employment Appeals Tribunal case involving another employee, Jean-Guy Twagirayezu. The decision was dated 13 November 2017.
