The Workplace Relations Commission ordered a convenience store to pay a cook €1,800 after finding she was denied the six weeks’ notice due to her after more than 10 years’ service. In a decision dated 24 July 2017, the officer also extended the time limit for her complaint, accepting that the delay was linked to the business wind-down and her efforts to pursue the claim. The store closed immediately on 1 February 2016. It did not appear at the hearing, but had sent the WRC a response saying it had ceased trading and was in liquidation.
