The Workplace Relations Commission found an airline employee’s age discrimination, harassment and victimisation complaint was out of time and recommended €4,000 compensation over the airline’s handling of a restructuring. The decision, dated 10 May 2018, said the merits of the equality complaint were not decided. The employee said he was removed from his Catering Operations manager role because of his age and remained in an uncertain position. The airline said the role ended in a restructuring intended to restore profitability. The adjudication officer accepted that two roles became redundant but found the lack of consultation and communication unfair and unreasonable.
