The WRC ordered a hotel to pay a housekeeping assistant €3,565.21 in statutory redundancy, €324.70 for accrued annual leave and €974.10 in minimum notice pay. Adjudication Officer Gaye Cunningham dated the decision 13 June 2017. The assistant said the hotel closed without warning in December 2016. The hotel’s representative could not attend because of illness; his wife told the hearing that Revenue authorities had suddenly closed the hotel. The WRC upheld all three claims, finding that two weeks of annual leave had accrued and remained untaken and that the assistant was entitled to six weeks’ statutory minimum notice.
