The Workplace Relations Commission found that a music and prayer service provider was not an employee of a nursing home, so her unfair dismissal claim failed. The decision was dated 23 August 2017; the merits were not decided because the WRC lacked jurisdiction. She said she provided services at nursing homes for about 14 years and received €130 a week. The nursing home said she was an independent contractor paid €50 a week and that the service was no longer needed. The adjudicator noted that she served multiple nursing homes and did not receive annual leave, public holiday pay or an employment contract.
