WRC dismisses ten Daft Media discrimination complaints as misconceived

By Gráinne Nolan

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC dismissed all ten discrimination complaints Roberto Alamazani brought against Daft Media Limited over rental advertisements, finding them misconceived. It also found he had not established victimisation. Adjudication Officer Aideen Collard dated the decision 23 February 2018.

Alamazani objected to advertisements on Daft Media Limited’s property website that allegedly said social welfare payments were not accepted. The WRC found that an individual could not bring a complaint about discriminatory advertising under the Equal Status Act and that Daft Media Limited had not provided him with accommodation, goods or services. It also found his evidence about allegedly abrupt treatment in phone calls did not establish victimisation.
