The WRC did not recommend reclassifying a medical scientist as a senior medical scientist because she did not hold the required qualification. The recommendation was dated 17 January 2018.
The worker had held the senior title before her 2009 redeployment to a public hospital, and retained her salary and employment terms. The Medical Laboratory Scientists Association argued that an exemption applied to staff already in service before 1 April 2000. The hospital said she did not meet the HSE qualification requirements but would not object to reclassification if she obtained them.
The WRC said it had no jurisdiction to set aside the qualification requirements and recommend reclassification. The dispute concerned her job title; her salary and other terms remained unchanged.
