The Workplace Relations Commission upheld a general operative’s redundancy claim against a meat processing plant, ordering statutory redundancy pay based on a weekly wage of €400 and continuous service from 10 July 2006 to 24 October 2016. The decision was dated 22 June 2017. The worker said he had been placed on short-time work, then laid off without pay, and received no reply or payment after seeking redundancy pay. The plant did not attend the hearing or send submissions. The adjudicator relied on the worker’s uncontested evidence.
