A chef received four €150 awards over working-time complaints against a restaurant, while two wage deduction claims were dismissed. WRC Adjudication Officer Michael McEntee dated the decision 30 August 2017. The chef complained of missed breaks, inadequate weekly rest, working more than 48 hours a week and unpaid Sunday premiums. The officer based the awards on the chef’s uncontested assertions, finding no great material detriment was evident or alleged. Holiday pay, one wages complaint and another working-time complaint were withdrawn after payment. The officer dismissed two alleged wage deductions of €200 and €400 as without foundation after the main wages complaint was withdrawn. The officer also recommended €1,000 compensation over the unfair dismissal complaint and €50 over a dispute about staff meals. The restaurant did not attend the hearing; it had said outstanding wages and holiday pay were paid and disputed the other claims.
