The Workplace Relations Commission directed a primary school to pay a school secretary €1,709.11 in unpaid wages, €750 compensation and €49.20 for a public holiday. Adjudication Officer Ray Flaherty dated the decision 14 June 2017. The school accepted that it had underpaid her, but said its 11-year review found a net €1,709.11 due. The WRC accepted that calculation, finding discrepancies in each year, with overpayments in four years and underpayments in seven. It also found the school had not provided payslips until January 2015 and awarded €750 compensation for its failure to comply with wage payment rules. Her claim for discretionary days was not upheld: the WRC found she had been paid for the required 183 school days, while extra personal development days applied to teachers, not non-teaching staff.
