The Workplace Relations Commission awarded a kitchen porter €338.55 in unpaid wages in a decision dated 13 June 2017. The restaurant did not attend the hearing or offer a defence. The adjudication officer accepted the porter’s uncontested evidence that the restaurant had given him an unsigned cheque that the bank did not honour, and found the claim well founded. The restaurant was directed to pay within four weeks.
