The Workplace Relations Commission found that a courier was entitled to a redundancy lump sum and awarded him €100 under the Terms of Employment (Information) Act. The decision was dated 12 June 2017. The courier said the motor parts distribution business was closing and that he had not received his redundancy payment. The respondent said it had paid €28,000 in two cash instalments and handed over a van. The adjudication officer accepted the courier’s evidence that no redundancy lump sum had been paid and found he was entitled to one, subject to the statutory wage ceiling of €600 per week. The officer also found the terms complaint well founded and awarded €100.
