WRC dismisses youth worker’s complaint after she misses hearing

By Ruairí Dolan

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC dismissed a senior youth worker’s unfair dismissal complaint for want of prosecution after she did not attend the hearing. Adjudication Officer Enda Murphy dated the decision 16 February 2018; the merits were not decided. The worker said she had been bullied and unfairly treated before resigning. Her representative sought a postponement, citing work commitments, but did not provide supporting documents. The WRC refused the request and found her non-attendance unreasonable. The regional youth service opposed another postponement and asked for the complaint to be dismissed.
