WRC rejects store assistant’s annual leave complaint but recommends grievance steps

By Gráinne Nolan

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC did not uphold a store assistant’s working-time complaint, finding she received her full pro-rata annual leave entitlement. In a decision dated 12 June 2017, the adjudication officer also recommended that the car repair and car sales business honour its undertaking to propose removing a written warning and allow her to process workplace grievances through internal procedures. The assistant said her 20-day annual leave entitlement had not been honoured. The business said she worked 24 hours a week and received her full entitlement on a pro-rata basis. The officer also recommended that the assistant be facilitated in raising grievances through the company grievance procedure or its bullying and harassment policy.
