The Workplace Relations Commission found a security officer’s redundancy complaint was not well founded after he resigned when his work site closed and declined alternative positions. The decision was dated 17 May 2017. He said he had worked full time for eight years at the Johnstown site and sought redundancy after it closed. The security firm said it offered him alternative work, including day shifts at sites reasonably close to his former workplace. The adjudication officer found the firm had acted reasonably in trying to relocate him. The complaint failed because he voluntarily resigned after the alternative offers.
