The Workplace Relations Commission found Monaghan Farmers Market did not discriminate against John Hamill when it declined his application for an Atheist Ireland stall. The decision was dated 14 November 2017.
Hamill said the market had allowed stalls or goods with religious associations while failing to process his request. The market, represented by Jenny Blackburn, said it had a policy against religious and political advocacy and had removed stalls representing religious organisations.
The adjudication officer found that Hamill had not shown that an applicant seeking to promote another religious outlook had been approved. The officer also found that the market had excluded comparable operators with religious outlooks. The complaint was not well founded.
