WRC awards factory worker €800 over missing written employment terms

By Fionn Kelly

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The Workplace Relations Commission ordered an accommodation and food-services employer to pay a factory worker €800 after finding it had failed to provide a written statement of employment terms. The decision was dated 11 May 2017. The employer accepted that it had not issued the statement, arguing that the worker knew key details such as his job title and wages. The WRC found that the required statement had not been provided during his employment and directed the employer to pay compensation within 42 days.
