The Workplace Relations Commission found a service user’s race-discrimination claim against a library failed under the Equal Status Acts in a decision dated 20 June 2017. He said a staff member accused him of photographing schoolgirls and treated him differently because of his race.
The library said staff acted urgently after the girls reported that a man appeared to point his phone at them. The adjudication officer found the service user had taken no inappropriate photographs, but found the staff member was not racially motivated and would have followed up the report regardless of his background.
