WRC rejects florist’s redundancy claim after she declines two job offers

By Niamh Kearney

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The Workplace Relations Commission found that a florist was not entitled to a redundancy payment after she declined offers to transfer to the new owner or work in the respondent’s other business. Adjudication Officer John Tierney dated the decision 24 March 2017. The florist said the business had transferred and she was made redundant. The flower shop said she refused work with the new owner and an offer in its other business. The WRC found she could have taken either job but declined both, found that no genuine redundancy situation existed, and did not find the claim well founded.
