A worker’s maternity-related equality complaint failed after she did not attend a Workplace Relations Commission hearing; the merits were not decided. The WRC dated its decision 12 June 2017. She had alleged penalisation and less favourable treatment because she took maternity leave, as well as bullying while seeking to vindicate her rights. The employer argued that she had not exhausted internal procedures and that her referral was premature.
