The WRC recommended that an employer move a nurse to the appropriate point on its pay scale and pay any resulting back pay, in a recommendation dated 2 June 2017. The nurse said she had been placed on the second point instead of the third when she started in July 2014, despite her earlier nursing service. The employer relied on public-service recruitment rules. The adjudicator said Circular 2/2011 required previous nursing service to be recognised and recommended the pay-scale change and any back pay due. No further compensation was recommended.
