The Workplace Relations Commission found that a supervisor’s unfair dismissal complaint against a public house was not well founded in a decision dated 22 August 2017. The supervisor had worked for the employer from November 1996 until her employment ended in June 2016, apart from a 13-week break. She said she was unfairly dismissed. The employer said she had stopped sending medical certificates after January 2016 and did not respond to repeated requests to confirm her employment status. It said it terminated her employment after 18 weeks without contact. The supervisor confirmed that she had received the employer’s letters and emails, had sent no further medical certificates after January 2016 and had not replied. The WRC found the complaint was not well founded.
