The Workplace Relations Commission upheld a worker’s claims for minimum notice pay and statutory redundancy after her employer, Dr Khan, failed to pay either entitlement. The decision was dated 22 November 2016. The worker said her employment ended on 31 December 2015, after seven years’ service, without notice pay or a redundancy payment. She said Dr Khan had been declared bankrupt and that the official assignee was Chris Lehane of the Insolvency Service of Ireland. Dr Khan did not attend the hearing. The adjudicator upheld both claims on the worker’s uncontested evidence; one of two duplicate minimum notice complaints was withdrawn. The minimum notice award was €2,523.92, based on four weeks’ gross pay at €630.98 a week. The decision set out the information used to calculate the redundancy entitlement but gave no amount for it.
