The Workplace Relations Commission found that a food takeaway failed to provide a kitchen worker with written employment terms and directed it to pay €1,000 compensation. In a decision dated 6 July 2017, adjudication officer Rosaleen Glackin also found that the takeaway owed accrued annual leave, directing payment of €410.28 for the leave and a separate €1,000 compensation for the working-time breach. The takeaway accepted that it had not provided written terms within two months or paid the worker's accrued leave. The WRC calculated the leave owed as 44.84 hours at €9.15 an hour. The worker's minimum-wage complaint could not be heard because she had not served a section 23 notice before filing it.
