WRC finds manager faced gender-related harassment and awards €2,340

By Cathal Brosnan

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC found that a manager at A Dry Cleaners faced ongoing harassment related to her gender and awarded her €2,340, equivalent to six months’ remuneration. It also awarded €360 because she had not been notified in writing that her work had changed. The decision was dated 7 June 2018.

The manager said an operations director had harassed and discriminated against her and that she was forced to resign. The respondent denied the claims. The WRC found her account of ongoing harassment accurate, noting its consistency and corroboration by a family member. Her constructive dismissal, Pensions Act, discrimination and victimisation complaints were not well founded. Her complaint about the change in her work succeeded.
