The WRC dismissed an employee’s age discrimination complaint against a state body on jurisdictional grounds in a decision dated 8 December 2016; the merits were not decided. The employee said a public-sector allowance was allocated by seniority and that he had missed out on payments. The adjudicator found that the complaint concerned a collective agreement but had been brought under the wrong section of the Employment Equality Acts. The employee had also not named IMPACT, a party to the agreement, so the adjudicator had no jurisdiction to investigate the complaint.
