The WRC ordered a language school to pay an English teacher €301.76 after upholding his wages complaint. Adjudication Officer Eugene Hanly dated the decision 16 August 2016. The teacher said the school reduced the agreed hourly rate for some work and cancelled 12.75 contracted teaching hours. The school said non-teaching work was paid at a lower rate and student feedback led it to remove him from a project. The WRC found that the school had not confirmed the lower rate in writing and had no witnesses to corroborate its account. It found the teacher was entitled to the agreed rate for all hours worked and to pay for his contracted hours on the cancelled project.
