WRC dismisses security officer’s unfair dismissal claim for want of jurisdiction

The WRC dismissed a security officer’s unfair dismissal claim for want of jurisdiction. The decision was dated 16 June 2017; the merits were not decided. The officer said he was dismissed after disputed incidents on Facebook. The security company denied the claim and argued the dispute had already been pursued under equality law, including an appeal to the Labour Court. The adjudicator found that the officer had not shown his current claim was materially different from the earlier one.
