A Workplace Relations Commission adjudication officer found an assistant professor’s unfair-dismissal complaint not well founded in a decision dated 5 January 2017. A complaint about supplementary redundancy payments was withdrawn, while a separate fixed-term work complaint also failed. The assistant professor said his fixed-term contract ended while teaching duties continued in altered or renamed courses. The officer found that the academic offerings had been replaced or had ceased and that ending the contract was justified. The complaint about information on applying for established posts was not well founded because the process was widely known at the college and he could have applied after a meeting in December 2014. The redundancy payment complaint was treated as withdrawn after the college supplied forms for processing.
