The Workplace Relations Commission found that a worker was unfairly dismissed after the employer failed to follow fair procedures. In a decision dated 1 June 2016, it directed the employer to pay €750 compensation. The worker said he was dismissed for lateness without grievance or disciplinary procedures. The employer said it had raised ongoing attendance and lateness concerns, but the adjudication officer found dismissal disproportionate and said the worker should have had an opportunity to address his behaviour.
