WRC dismisses redundancy claim after worker misses hearing

By Orla Quinn

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed a general operative’s redundancy claim after the worker did not attend the hearing. The decision was dated 26 April 2016. A representative for the receiver attended and provided evidence that the redundancy payment had been made. The adjudicator said the worker’s failure to attend was unreasonable and noted that payment had in fact been made. The WRC dismissed the claim. The merits were not decided after the complainant’s non-attendance.
