The WRC found that a health-sector employer handled a paramedic’s grievance appeal reasonably. In a decision dated 9 May 2016, Adjudication Officer Gerry Rooney did not find that the paramedic was treated unfairly and recommended that he accept the appeal outcome and agree a return-to-work process with the employer. The paramedic said the appeal did not address his concerns and that the grievance process had been delayed. The employer said it considered all seven grievance matters and followed its procedures. The officer found that the employer considered all seven issues and handled the appeal from 19 to 29 October 2015. The appeal report was issued ten days after the hearing, a reasonable timeframe, he found. He did not reconsider earlier delays because a Rights Commissioner had already dealt with that issue.
