WRC rejects accountant’s discrimination and harassment claims

By Gráinne Nolan

Workplace Relations Commission ·

A WRC adjudication officer rejected an accountant’s complaints of discrimination, harassment and victimisation against a financial services provider. The decision, dated 26 August 2016, said the provider’s evidence was generally more credible. It found his work quality and missed deadlines explained why he was not promoted, and that he was not selected for a European office visit because he was a new employee. The officer also accepted that his drink had not been tampered with and found he had not taken a protected action that could support a victimisation claim. The complaints failed in their entirety.
