In 1999, the Labour Court affirmed a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation and disallowed the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s appeal over a worker’s pay at Irish Cable & Wire Limited. The decision was dated 21 May 1999. The union argued that the worker should receive a further increase for production stores duties. The company said the agreed rate of £228 a week covered both those duties and oil and greasing work. The Court found no basis to interfere with the recommendation that the union and worker accept the company’s decision.
