Labour Court restores worker’s coordinator role and reduces final warning at Irish Society Of Autism

The Labour Court restored an unnamed worker to his original position at the Irish Society Of Autism and replaced his final written warning with a written warning. The decision was dated 10 May 1999. The Society had appealed a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation after suspending the worker, demoting him from coordinator and issuing a final warning. The Court accepted that the Society had good reason for concern, but found its sanction too harsh, though not to the extent the Rights Commissioner had found. It also said the worker should be counselled on the standards expected in his position of responsibility.
