In 1999, the Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that Securicor Security Services pay £400 to each of two workers and rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s appeal for more compensation. The Court dated its decision 27 April 1999. The workers had been removed from a cash-in-transit run after alleged disciplinary breaches. The union said the company delayed a promised review of their removal until December 1998, causing further losses. Securicor argued that runs and overtime were not guaranteed and that lunch allowances covered expenses rather than earnings.
