The Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation on lost overtime and pay grading at Navan Carpets Limited, rejecting an appeal by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The decision was signed on 26 March 1996. The union said a worker lost about £40 a week in overtime after moving to a laboratory technician post and sought compensation and a higher rate of pay. The company said the overtime requirement had ended and argued its compensation offer was reasonable. The Court found the recommendation reasonable and left it in place.
