The Labour Court upheld the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation and rejected three Coillte Teoranta workers’ appeal over their transfer from Cong sawmill work to the Cong forests. The decision was signed on 25 September 1995. The workers said they had been moved without consultation and unfairly selected. Coillte Teoranta argued redeployment was needed to keep the loss-making sawmill operating and that closing it could have led to compulsory redundancies. The recommendation did not call for their return to sawmill duties, but said they should be considered on merit for any future permanent posts there.
