In 1995, the Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner's recommendation that a worker be promoted to Senior Technician from 26 November 1993, rejecting an appeal by the Dublin Institute For Advanced Studies. The decision was signed on 3 January 1995. The Institute argued that there was no vacancy and that its electronics section was to be phased out. Manufacturing Science Finance supported the recommendation, citing an independent assessment of the worker's qualifications, work and service. The Court found no grounds to amend the recommendation.
