In 1994, the Labour Court rejected Mandate’s appeal and upheld a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that Cash And Company Limited pay a worker £750 as a goodwill payment for lost earnings. The decision was dated 10 November 1994. The worker, a chargehand, was transferred in 1993 from the Separates Department to the Lingerie/Corsetry and Children’s Departments. Mandate argued the move caused hardship and affected her pension entitlements. The company said earlier commission earnings had been unusually high because one of three people in the commission pool was on maternity leave. It said it had created a new commission pool for her departments and made a goodwill payment proposal. The Court found the recommendation reasonable and rejected the appeal.
