The Labour Court rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union's appeal over an allocator's non-selection for promotion to duty controller at Aer Lingus, upholding the Rights Commissioner's recommendation. The decision was signed on 23 May 1994. Twenty-nine workers applied for seven posts, and three of the four allocators who applied were selected. The union alleged the selection process was predetermined and discriminatory; Aer Lingus said the interview board considered the successful candidates more suitable. The Court said the Rights Commissioner's recommendation dealt with the claim fully and reasonably.
