In 1993, the Labour Court rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s appeal over the central point used to calculate mobility allowance for forest workers in Graiguenamanagh Forest, Co Kilkenny. The Rights Commissioner had recommended Graiguenamanagh town. Coillte Teoranta said the town was central to the main forest blocks and met the agreed criteria; the Union argued the location could affect workers’ travel entitlements. The Court found no compelling case to amend the Rights Commissioner’s findings. The decision was dated 24 June 1993.
