In 1993, the Labour Court rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s appeal and confirmed a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that Cash And Company Limited pay £250 to each affected worker. The dispute concerned four general workers at the company’s Cork store who had regularly worked Saturday overtime before it ended in February 1991. The union sought compensation for lost earnings; the company said regular overtime was no longer needed because of changes in business and work. The Labour Court found no grounds to amend the recommendation. Its decision was dated 26 March 1993.
