Labour Court leaves £2,000 recommendation in place in dockers dispute

In 1993, the Labour Court left a £2,000 Rights Commissioner's recommendation in place after rejecting appeals by B & I Line Limited and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The decision was signed on 5 January 1993. The dispute concerned a worker's exclusion from the casual dockers list and claimed loss of earnings. The union said there were no reasonable grounds for excluding him and cited delays in the procedures. The company said selection followed interviews and assessments, and that the worker had been certified unfit for work.
