In 1992, the Labour Court rejected a worker’s appeal against a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation on his pension separation package from Telecom Eireann. The decision was dated 4 November 1992. The worker, who took early retirement in April 1990, argued that a later separation package was more attractive and that earlier regrading would have improved his own package. Telecom Eireann said later early-retirement schemes had identical terms to the one he used. The Rights Commissioner had recommended no adjustment to the package, which the worker had accepted. The Labour Court found no basis to change that recommendation, upheld it and rejected the appeal.
