In 1992, the Labour Court recommended that Kenilworth Products offer an unnamed worker its next suitable vacancy and pay £200 compensation. The decision was dated 4 November 1992. The worker appealed a Rights Commissioner's recommendation that he had not been unfairly dismissed. The Irish Print Union argued suitable vacancies had arisen and that the company should honour its September 1991 agreement to consider him for permanent work and give him first option on certain back-numbering jobs. The company said it had not needed additional staff for that work and had let other workers go because of a lack of orders. The Labour Court recommended offering the worker the next vacancy for which he was suitably qualified, including general operative work, and paying £200.
