The Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner's recommendation after the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union appealed on behalf of a worker over a coal allowance at Irish Cement Limited. The recommendation said the restoration claim should fail and provided £300 in full and final settlement of related claims. The Court found no grounds to alter it. Its decision was dated 16 October 1992. The union said the worker had received no compensation when the allowance was discontinued and that this reduced his pension entitlements. The company argued the allowance was not raised in the 1983 transfer package and that the claim came nine years later.
