In 1990, the Labour Court rejected Drammock Limited’s appeal over Mary Murtagh’s seniority as a quality control operator and left the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation unchanged. The decision was signed on 29 January 1990. The Rights Commissioner had upheld Murtagh’s seniority, entitling her to work the two remaining quality control shifts, and recommended that Henry McDowell be transferred to packing. The recommendation also defined a temporary transfer with retention of the original rate of pay as one lasting up to three months. Drammock argued that Murtagh had less service in the reorganised role; the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union disputed the appeal.
