In 1989, the Labour Court left a Rights Commissioner's recommendation in place in a Waterford Crystal worker's appeal over lost rostered overtime. The decision was signed on 7 November 1989. The worker, represented by the Amalgamated Transport And General Workers Union, sought compensation after his former work area closed and he transferred to another role. The union argued that rostered overtime should be bought out because the job requiring it had ended. Waterford Crystal said the worker had no loss of income, and the Court cited that point when it found no grounds to alter the recommendation.
